TapestrY
In Tapestry, Christie Baker reimagines the still life at an architectural scale, painted on muslin to echo the softness and presence of historic wall hangings. Vintage vessels and heirloom botanicals form a rhythmic arrangement across the surface, their shapes overlapping in a layered visual weave. The muted shadows that drift through the background evoke the persistence of memory—echoes of the past that remain embedded in the present. Baker’s interplay of translucence, gesture, and structure transforms ordinary objects into meditations on continuity and time, bridging domestic intimacy with the grandeur of historical tapestry.
