Christie Baker is a contemporary Canadian painter based in Toronto. She began painting informally in 2019, and deepened her studio practice during Toronto’s pandemic lockdown. Since her first exhibition in 2022, she has experienced a rapidly expanding professional and exhibition trajectory, with paintings presented in galleries, juried and curated exhibitions, art fairs, corporate environments, and private collections across Canada and internationally.

Recent and upcoming exhibitions include a forthcoming solo show at Gallery 34 in Port Hope (2027), Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, Blue Crow Gallery’s Annual Summer Show, 3rd Voice at Assembly Hall Gallery by Culture TO, and featured exhibitions at The Jackalope Gallery. Her work is held in corporate collections including Ted Laurier Place (Cornwall, ON), Citify Information Technology Inc. (Oakville, ON), and Ceangal Consulting Inc. (Toronto, ON).

Baker’s studio practice has been enriched by a series of artist residencies: Hôtel Sainte-Valière (2026) and La Maison de Beaumont (forthcoming), both in southern France; Gibraltar Point (Toronto); and a six‑month self-directed residency along the Gatineau River in Quebec (2025–26). She has presented artist talks and workshops in Toronto and Ottawa and has been featured in media including L’Indépendant, Fairchild TV, ArtAscent, and Talking with Artists.

A published writer of creative non-fiction and personal essays, Baker brings a parallel background in writing to her visual practice. She currently serves as Vice Chair/Incoming Chair on the Artists’ Network Board of Directors, having previously served as Director of Strategic Planning and Website Development.
